Infinix Concept Phone wins Technology Innovation of the Year - China trophy at 2022 Asian Telecom Awards

Its 160W ultra-fast charging and other standout features grabbed industry attention.

In today’s tech scene, major innovations are being introduced left and right as companies scramble to bring the latest to the market. Not lagging behind is Infinix Mobility.Ltd (Infinix) which launched the Infinix Concept Phone last June 2021.

The Infinix Concept Phone 2021 claims to feature the world’s first dual colour-changing back cover and a 160W fast charging technology. This is backed by an enhanced 50W wireless charging, security protection mechanisms, and new temperature control capabilities, providing an in-depth exploration of the direction and future development of the smartphone industry.

The phone combines electrochromic and electroluminescent technology. When there is an incoming call, the back of the smartphone changes between silver grey and light blue. When charging, the smartphone changes colour and a flash will light up in the middle of the device to indicate that the device is powering up.

The phone uses ultra-thin, energy-saving, and transparent solid electrochromic film (SECF) combined with electroluminescence (EL) film. Infinix’s EL light-emitting film opens the door for future developments with colour-changing smartphones which were very well received by the global technology press.

To reach 160W ultra-fast charging, Infinix integrates its Ultra Flash Charge (UFC) technology, Innovative Super Charge Pump, 60 security protection mechanisms and an 8C battery cell that enables the smartphone’s 4000mAh battery to be fully and safely charged in 10 minutes.

The Innovative Super Charge Pump is integrated with four high conversion charging chips that support high power conversion. This enables the smartphone to reach 98.6% charging conversion efficiency whilst avoiding overloading and overheating caused by large currents. Using 20 temperature sensors and intelligent control algorithms, the Infinix Concept Phone 2021 cleverly monitors the temperature whilst charging and adjusts the charging power to keep the smartphone under 40 °C/104°F. Infinix also collaborated with the world’s leading battery manufacturers to develop a new 8C battery cell that reduces more than 18% of internal resistance in comparison with a 6C battery and produces less heat.

It also improves the 6.67” AM-OLED display with the addition of an 88° limit radian that forms a perfect surface using 3D glass giving users an immersive viewing experience.

For these innovative features, Infinix was given the Technology Innovation of the Year - China award in the recently concluded Asian Telecom Awards. The awards programme recognises remarkable achievements and initiatives of leading telecom companies across Asia.

In granting the award, the judging panel considered three major achievements of the concept phone.

First is being able to utilise electrochromic and electroluminescent technology to produce the dual colour-changing back cover feature. Second is being able to develop 160W ultra-fast charging technology, providing a full-charge time of only 10 minutes. Third is improving the display by the addition of the 88° limit radian to improve the user viewing experience.

The Concept Phone drew a lot of media attention, generating over a thousand reports worldwide. According to the company, the Infinix Concept Phone 2021 is a peek behind the curtain to showcase the next generational technology being developed and to show that it is attainable in emerging markets all around the world.

Showcasing next-level technology, Infinix aims to further develop the technology embedded within the Concept Phone and roll it out on attainably priced devices in the future.
