KDDI Digital Life wins Telecom Company of the Year in the Asian Telecom Awards

The innovative platform based on cloud-based technology enables their team to provide suitable product offerings via data-driven marketing.

KDDI Digital Life of Japan has bagged the Telecom Company of the Year in the Asian Telecom Awards. The awards programme aims to recognise telco companies that stand out and were able to navigate their way despite various challenges in the market whilst providing relevant and award-winning products and services to their clients.

Launched on September 29, 2021, KDDI Digital Life in Japan launched “povo2.0,” a new mobile and customisable plan with simple UI and UX for digital generation in Japan. Customers can enjoy "topping services" on top of the base plan of 0 JPY, according to individual users’ lifestyles.

The platform of povo2.0 is based on cloud-based technology that enables them to provide suitable product offerings via data-driven marketing so that they can quickly update their products and app based on customer behaviour.

Realised end-to-end app-based online telecom services, this innovation project is organised by KDDI Digital Life in Japan and Circles Asia in Singapore and has been developed during the pandemic. KDDI Digital Life contributes to making services and marketing initiatives in Japan market whilst Circles Asia provides service concepts and UI and UX based on their own experience globally.

“This has been a big challenge for all team members, but we have realised to launch new services in Japan as one team. We are continuously trying to make great customer experiences for povo users,” Toshiro Akiyama, CEO of KDDI Digital Life said.

Before the launch of “povo2.0”, the original “povo” brand had a base plan of 20GB. However, according to customers' feedback and data analysis results, KDDI Digital Life decided to upgrade their plan because they believe that the 20GB base plan is not enough for all customer needs.

Committed to their motto of “No more bill shock”, this leading telecom company loves to realise “transparency” so they let their customers choose the plan for themselves. With the topping services option, customers can also enjoy different services depending on their preference which they can purchase with a one-time fee.

Now “povo2.0,” users can get the SIM card without any fee, so they have gotten choices on how they can optimise their usage from 0 JPY.

Since its successful launch, the project has garnered 1 million customers because of the uniqueness of the service concept and the nature of service developers. The team always monitor Net Promotor Score “NPS” for acknowledge of customer satisfaction so that they try to meet customers’ needs.

“We are updating our services based on our customers' feedback always. We love to change our services for customers’ better mobile life”, Akiyama finally said.
