AGTC Genomics enables accessible and affordable precision medicine

Its personal genomics testing empowers patients and healthcare professionals with personalised insights into various health conditions and risks.

Genomics technology centre AGTC Genomics believes that precision medicine should not be a privilege reserved for the few, but a right that every individual should have access to. The centre is passionate in making precision medicine accessible and affordable for everyone.

As such, it has utilised an innovative approach to genomics testing that has enabled the democratisation of the field to ensure its goals are met.

AGTC Genomics is the first and only private genomics lab that can perform a whole human genome sequencing at less than US$1000 in 48 hours. Its technology has been used to diagnose rare diseases that were previously difficult to detect, allowing it to find potential cures and offer personalised treatments to patients.

This has been instrumental to the company’s goals, enabling them to find cures and gain a deeper understanding of rare diseases, diagnose cancers at early stages via liquid biopsy, provide treatment decision support to oncologists based on comprehensive gene profiling, offer preventive medical care through personal genomics testing, and identify and detect infectious diseases to the species and variant level.

Providing early detection of cancer through liquid biopsy has also enabled AGTC to help many patients receive timely and effective treatments, leading to improved outcomes and quality of life. Through a single blood draw, it can detect over 85 types of cancer in the early stage.

Meanwhile, the company’s gene profiling services also offer treatment decision support to oncologists, allowing them to tailor treatments to individual patients and improve their chances of recovery.

Its personal genomics testing also enables individuals to take a proactive approach to their health by identifying potential health risks and offering personalised preventive care.

AGTC Genomics innovation in allowing healthcare providers to take timely action in preventing diseases and in offering appropriate treatments to patients has been recognised by the Malaysia Technology Excellence Awards, as it bags the win in the Medical Technology - Healthcare Technology category.

“Our technology has the potential to transform healthcare by enabling personalized treatments, preventive care, and early detection of diseases. We are proud of our achievements and believe that we are deserving of this award for our contribution to making precision medicine accessible and affordable to all,” the company said.

The prestigious awards programme recognises exceptional companies who are leading the technological revolution and digital journeys of their respective industries to boost Malaysia’s ever-growing economy.
